MIM#164 Steampunk with Meljen's Designs

Another Monday has arrived and with it the start of a new Linky Party at Make It Monday
It's been a quiet weekend. Friday night I had a meal out with my Mum, older brother and my Uncle Jim, who had come from Western Australia to Sth. Australia to do some work. I picked him up at his hotel and I have only seen him a couple of times over the last 10 years and there I was waving at this man and he wasn't responding, so I waved again, still no response so I started to think I was waving at  the wrong person. He finally approached the car and realised it was me after I had waved at him about 6 times and was becoming very self conscious, LOL. We drove to the restaurant and had an enjoyable meal and catch up.
Saturday was a quiet day at home and then Sunday we had church. Hubby decided it would be nice to go to a local hotel for lunch on the way home. He had an afternoon nap and I rang a friend and we went to a craft shop together and bought a few essentials, lol.....
Hope you had an enjoyable weekend and are ready to join in the fun at Make It Monday this week!
Congratulations to Jackie as the featured artist and also to Heidi as the winning commenter. Hope you enjoy your prize.

PSC97 Poinsettia Christmas

Hi everyone, we are back to cold, wet and windy here in Sth. Australia. So back into the long sleeved tops and the cardigan! I went back to choir last night after quite a few weeks off only to find they was no new music packed up for me for the upcoming Christmas concert, so had to wait until half way through rehearsal to sort out some for me. I can't find my copy of Messiah!!! so I've had to borrow one for the time being. I taught my two ladies how to make a treat box today, we had two tables for the 3 of us and spread out our stuff everywhere, you know the drill, punches, card, ribbon, score board, cutting board, trimmer, stamps, ink etc, etc, LOL!!! but they enjoyed making them. My friend, Joyce, who teaches folk art on another table came and told me she had made 5 boxes now at home. I taught her last Thursday and she was pleased she had remembered what to do. I did tell her that it is easy once you know how, so I'm pleased I must be doing something right. One of my DT teams had a gift packaging theme coming up early December, so I'm going to hold off sharing the treat box until then, so stay tuned!
Well, today sees the start of another challenge at the Perfect Sentiment Challenge Blog, we would love you to enter a card. Our sponsor this week is Diane's Daydream Designs
The theme this week is Poinsettia Christmas and here is the card I've made to share.....

Recipe:
SU Rasperry Ripple cardstock
White cardstock from stash
DP from stash ( I've had this one for years, lol)
Image is from Diane's Daydream Designs and is called Deck the Halls Outline Set
I fussy cut around the image and also the little white bits in between the leaves too!
Sentiment is from Hero Arts, poor little stamp is pretty messy after I lent it to someone last Christmas, ink everywhere!!!
Cuttlebug embossing folder - Divine Swirls (one of my favourites)
Punch - 3/4" circle
Eyelets from stash
String from stash
Copic Markers
SU Crystal Effects - I put this on the poinsettia flowers and you can see how glossy they are.
Other tools, Cuttlebug and Cropadile

 Here's our sponsor details.......

Okay that's it from me, We would love to see your Christmas cards featuring poinsettias and don't forget that all important sentiment on the front of your card.

MIM#163 - Framed with Bugaboo

It's Monday which means time for a new linky party to start at Make It Monday. I hope you all had an enjoyable break from work and a catch up with family and friends. We enjoyed having our 3 grandchildren staying with us for a couple of nights. The middle one, Layla, is my little cardmaker and after Mum dropped them off Friday late afternoon, the first words out of her mouth were " I want to make a card, Mama"
I found some images from free colouring pages on the net and she made two cards on Saturday! The oldest granddaughter occasionally colours an image but she is happy to take them home to cut out and stick on something. We found a picture of "Dasher" (not the reindeer!) that she liked and that has gone home with her to cut out.  Little Isaac is just happy to play with the toy cars, the duplo and his toy lawnmower!
Our youngest son has decided to move back home for a while to try and save a bit more money. His wife of 6 months is still stuck in Vietnam waiting for her spousal visa to be approved. He has organised tickets to go over there in January and hopes she will be able to come back with him then. It's been a hard time on them both. He hasn't seen her now for 4 months. It's his 24th birthday today, so happy birthday, Laurie.
Well on to the linky party. Congratulations to Jean as our featured artist and to Trace as the winning commenter. Enjoy your prize.
Our sponsor this week is the very creative Bugaboo Stamps.
Bugaboo Stamps are offering a very generous prize of winner's choice of 7 single digis!
I chose this fun image called Gus Tidbits - At My Age
and here is how I used it.......... Maybe a birthday card.... or even a retirement card, lol.

Recipe:
SU Pacific Point Cardstock
SU Real Red Cardstock
White Cardstock from stash
Image is Gus Tidbits - At My Age from Bugaboo Stamps
Sentiment is a freebie from Create with TLC
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - I've lost the packaging so don't know the name for this one.
Nestie Dies - I used two together to make a picture frame for Gus
Classic Scalloped Rectangles - large and Classic Rectangles - large
Punches - Two different size circles
Copic Markers
D/S tape roller
Foam Dots

Ta Da.......... it's POTW time from last week's entries. So many wonderful projects to choose from.
This first beauty is from Dot of Dot's Dabbles and you can find it here

The second card is this gorgeous one from Niki who shared this through SplitCoast Stampers Gallery and you can see it here. I'm not a member there, so unfortunately couldn't make a comment to let her know I've featured her card here.

That brings me to the end of my post and I hope you pop in here and also to my teamies blogs and leave them a comment. We are looking forward to checking out all of your fabulous papercraft creations. Don't forget, to be in the running for the wonderful prize from Bugaboo this week you need to do a bit of hopping to some of the other entries blogs and leave them a comment. You must mention that you've seen them on MIM.
So.... get busy and thanks for stopping by,

Well, thought I would get my card done early and use it for my granddaughter's 9th birthday as she was here when I was choosing an image from Kenny K and thought this one was perfect for her!!!

We had a good time, they played with the lego, making great big houses and pulling them apart again, watched "Tangled" on tv, enjoyed bedtime stories and sleeping 4 in a bed! PSC96 CAS Thankyou

Hi everyone, hope you are having a good week so far. The Wednesday Community Craft group that I go to started back today and I only had my two regulars on my table. I made 3 CAS Christmas cards last night and that is what the girls did today. I've also made up a couple of different treat containers that we will be doing in the following weeks. It's a short term of only 7 weeks, so still have to find a couple more projects to teach. It is very windy here today and hubby has come home early because it is too dangerous using the crane in these conditions.
Today is the start of a new challenge at the Perfect Sentiment Challenge Blog and this week, the theme is CAS thankyou. Our sponsor this week is Stitchy Bear
I've chosen to use this lovely image and digital paper from Coosty Creations and also a christian sentiment to go along with it.
Here's my card.....

Recipe:
SU Bashful Blue cardstock
Image is from Coosty Creations - Praying Hands
DP is  from the Praying Hands set (includes several patterned digital  papers and the image)
Sentiment is from SU ~ Trust God  - clear set

Punch from SU
Ribbon from Shmick (found in the variety shop)
Memento Black inkpad

I am entering this into the following challenges:

MIM#162 Eating Apples with Nicecrane Designs

Make It Monday time is once more upon us and we are looking forward to another bumper week of entries.
Congratulations go to Monique as our featured artist and to Denise as the winning commenter. Hope you enjoy your prize. This is a fun way to be inspired and if you leave a comment or two you get to be in the running for the sponsor of the week's prize. I love looking at all the different papercraft projects and seeing what my fab teamies come up with from week to week. Our fearless leader, Michelle, who quite often has lots to contend with in her own life, leads us courageously, given that real life always tends to interfere with our crafting life too, LOL. Thanks, Michelle!!!
Our oldest granddaughter turned 9 yesterday. I am just going to give her some money to buy something she wants as I'm not sure what she has already, LOL. She is an avid reader but I know she got books for her birthday already and she has read all the ones in the school library. She is also is a bit fussy on what she likes to wear so not going there!  I've bought her some colourful paper milkshake cups and a couple of microwave popcorn sachets to have her own individual popcorn next time they sit down to watch a movie at home. Something a bit different! When I was choosing an image recently for an upcoming DT card she was here and I asked her which one I should get, LOL. she chose one and said that I could then use it for her birthday. Will share it later after I use it on the DT blog.
My class starts back on Wednesday, now that school holidays are over and I have been busy trying to come up with some projects to teach in the lead up to Christmas, so I've been trawling the net looking for things to make. If you've found any good projects I'd love to know. So far I have a few different treat boxes but am looking for something unusual. I don't own a cutting machine other than my manual ones so cut files are not much good unless they can be cut by hand.
Our sponsor this week is the marvellous  Ignacio from Nicecrane Designs - wonderful images, I hope you pop over to the shop and check them out!
I chose Adorable Children DS#1 and really enjoyed using this image.

Here is my card......... I made an easel card to showcase this fab digital image. I wanted my card to have a vintage feel, so kept to fairly muted tones. Hope you like it. I used several diecuts layered over each other.

And now...................time for POTW ~ when I can share a couple of favourites from last week's multitude of entries
I've chosen this one because I am a sucker for birds and I like the colours too. It's been created by Joan at Welcome to Late Night Stamping and you can find it here

This second one is another Autumn toned card continuing with the Thanksgiving theme. It's made by Asha from Sunny Summer Crafts and you can find it here on her blog. Love the rich colours of the pumpkin and basket and the lovely layout.

My teamies and I would love it if you popped in and checked out our work and left us a comment too. Can't wait to see what you all come up with this week! Don't forget to be in the running for the prize you need to do a bit of hopping and commenting on other entries. Not only is it good for our own inspiration but people like to know that their work is appreciated too! and sometimes you get to make friends along the way! Bonuses all around in my opinion, LOL.

MIM#161 Cookies for Santa with Kenny K

Hi everyone, this posted as scheduled post, but I ended up home a couple of days early because our son was bitten by his dog on Saturday night so I am now rewriting it today. My daughter and I took him to hospital which is about a half hour drive (she did it in 15 mins with me warning her every now and then to be careful as there was patchy fog and we were on a country road at midnight) We were an 1 3/4 hours from town so we took him to the nearest country hospital. They were having a very busy night but at least there was a doctor there. All he did was soak it in Betadine and wrap it up and order an ambulance because he told us that it would have to be cleaned and sorted out under a general anaesthetic. They didn't even have any tetanus injections. Daylight saving started at 2 a.m. so we lost an hour in the middle of the night. The ambulance arrived at 5 a.m. in the morning and said that someone could ride in the ambulance with him. I told my daughter to drive back to the house where all the family still were. She's also pregnant and had already travelled from town arriving about 9.30 p.m. So it was a long day for her. Ryan doesn't cope well with gory injuries, so I knew he would be panicky and he also tends to faint so I left for Adelaide in the ambulance and only had my handbag, house keys and my phone which was no good because the battery was nearly flat and I didn't have the charger. We arrived back in town just over an hour later and were put in a cubicle waiting to be seen. The nurse practitioner got Ryan started on a fluid drip, something for nausea, a tetanus injection and a antibiotic drip as well. He was supposed to see the plastic surgeon but she didn't turn up so he was admitted and sent to a ward. She was eventually tracked down and came and saw him. My husband and Ryan's wife (our DIL) drove back to town with their two dogs, took them home and dropped off their things and mine and then came into the hospital. I had been awake  about 27 hours by then. We stayed for about another hour and then left our DIL there and drove their ute back here to drop me off and then hubby drove it to their place and picked up his motorbike from there. I stayed home and he went back to Peake on the motorbike. My car was still up there, luckily hubby saw my diabetes medication on the table and brought it home for me as I only had one tablet on me. He also got something for me to eat, which was good. My SIL drove my car home for me yesterday and our daughter drove theirs and bought my phone charger home too! Ryan had his hand operated on late evening yesterday and had to have a skin graft and is now back home. They still have the dog that bit him but are being vary wary of him at the moment. They have been trying to contact the original owner but they are on holiday in China. He is a very large male Golden Retriever, the breed is not normally agressive, so we don't know why he attacked him. The dog had been sitting in the ute and came over to Ryan for a pat which he gave him one of the head and one under the chin and then he just went for him.We were all in shock when he came back yelling he'd been bitten and needed to go to hospital. We had been outside with a bonfire and had enjoyed a barbeque tea with all the family, also hubby's brother, wife and daughter and a friend. So it was dark and we hadn't heard the dog attack him so we were all saying "bitten by what". Most of us thought he must have been bitten by some sort of spider. To make matters worse I've been unwell for several days now with a throat infection again and am now completely worn out! Well that's my drama for the long weekend which was supposed to be a nice family get together, I will get on with my post and put in the details I missed in the original post.
Today is the start of a new linky part at Make It Monday    I managed to get all my commenting done bar one entry before the end of last week's linky party because I was home several days early.
Congrats go to Mandy as the featured artist and also to Wendy as the winning commenter. Enjoy your prize!
Our sponsor this week is Kenny K and I've used an image called Santa Cookies.  I made it into an easel card using a rectangular card.

PSC94 Autumn Birthday

Brrr!!! it's a cold, wet and very windy Wednesday here in Adelaide. Not a lovely Spring Day like it should be, lol. Yesterday, my friend and I went off to another friend, Shirley's house to make some cards. She plonked down her papers and toppers and we made whatever we liked. I will share mine later in the week. Fran and I then went and bought some lunch and decided to take a trip to Morialta Falls. We saw a couple of koala bears in the trees and walked about 2 km into see the waterfall. It was an overcast day but no rain so it was a nice walk. The three grandchildren are staying here for the next 3 days so Fran and I  thought we would pack a picnic lunch and take them to see the waterfall today but the weather has changed that. The youngest is now asleep and the older two are playing in the family room, so it's pretty quiet. Hubby has come home at lunchtime as it is too windy and wet for the crane to work today and is pottering around the place! and I'm right here typing away so I can schedule my post for the Perfect Sentiment Challenge Blog DT.
This week the theme is Autumn Birthday and I chose this sweet bear from Robyn's Fetish called "Ms Cutie Bear"
I've kept the layout fairly simple as I really liked the designer paper I chose to use and I wanted to feature that as much as the image itself.
So here is the card.....

Recipe:
SU Peach Parfait cardstock for the basecard and matte
SU Burnt Sugar cardstock
White cardstock from stash
DP is from Prima - Bohemian Bamboo
Image is Ms Cutie Bear from our sponsor Robyn's Fetish
Sentiment is from SU Happiest Birthday Wishes (2 of 2)
Nestie Die - Labels Twenty Two
Copic Markers
SU Soft Suede inkpad

 PSC94: Autumn Birthdays
CREATE A CARD WITH A BIRTHDAY SENTIMENT. USE AUTUMN COLORS IN THE DESIGN OF YOUR CARD. DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE THE SENTIMENT ON THE FRONT OF YOUR CARD

Okay, it's time to get inky and set to work or play! and make a card. We would love to see an entry from you and Robyn's Fetish has a great prize for the winner this week. Don't forget that all important sentiment has to be on the front of your card too.

Thanks for stopping by

Sandy
