A Card for Cliff

Hi again. Have you been watching the Olympics? I've only seen bits and pieces but I've heard our swimmers haven't been doing well. We've got a few men through the heats so hopefully they will be able to get their confidence back and do their best.
I would like to welcome new follower, Laine. Hope you will find something to interest you here.
I had choir practice tonight and didn't get home till after 10.30 p.m. I already had this card ready, so I've just been sitting watching a bit of tv to wind down a bit.
It is quite chilly here at the moment, we did have some sunshine earlier but the wind took away the heat - it was nice in the car though. My friend and I had craft with Shirley this morning and made 3 cards again. We used a free vintage image on one of the cards, a motorbike, so am going to have to go look for it and save. All the males in this family own at least one or two (or more, LOL) motorbikes and scooters. So bike images always are always handy.
Well, onto my card. This was made for a friend's hubby who celebrated a birthday today. I didn't have any stamps, so it will be a bit late. I hope he had a good birthday.
N.B. No designer papers were harmed in the making of this card, LOL.

Puppy Love - Hugs & Kisses

Another weekend has flown by. Ours finished with a meal out with the family to farewell our eldest daughter until September as she goes back up north to work at Arkaroola Village. It's an isolated tourist village where you can go on walking trails and also has the famous "Ridgetop tours" of the magnificent scenery around the area. They actually had a spot on a tv show yesterday showing scenes from there.
She will be having a birthday soon and will still be up there. Communication is not wonderful as her mobile phone does not work there and you have to rely on facebook when she can get any internet coverage during her free time.
I went to church on my own this morning as Adrian had to work. It was funny, as I walked down the street, heading towards the front of the church, I saw a crane drive past with the logo of the company he works for and then I saw him behind it driving a truck. I didn't realise he was working in town and it was a real coincidence that he just happened to be there at the same time as I was.
An old friend of ours, who was a young student minister back when our children were young, was at church this morning to take part in the service. He writes and illustrates Christian story books for children. When he first started he used a couple of our children as inspiration for his characters. It was good to hear him speak and to catch up with him after the service too.
He reminded me of a story about our eldest son. He had brought a friend along to church one day and they were both wearing baseball caps. One of the older ladies was upset about them wearing them in church and told them off.  Andrew drew up a license to wear a hat in church and gave it to our son the next week and told him next time anything was said about his hat just to show them the license.  It didn't bother me that he wore his hat, we were just pleased that he came with us to church.
Well, there's not much left of today, so I will get on and share my card.

A Gnome's Home

The weekend is half over already. Hubby worked today and is also working tomorrow for half a day, so not much rest for him. I started my day with a couple of loads of washing and the dishes from last night!!!. One load of washing was mainly shirts so I hung them on coat hangars and then hung them off the drying rack. Still cold here and rain on and off during the day. I didn't want to take a chance at hanging everything outside and then going off to craft for the afternoon. It was good to catch up with the "girls" and get some more branches made for my beaded tree.
As I didn't do any shopping today and I only had a piece of silverside in the fridge for cooking, we decided to get pizza. Just Adrian and I -  and leftovers for Laurie when he came home from doing service work for a mate who is in a car rally this weekend. He is off again tomorrow to do some more.
So another  night with the two guys already fast asleep - trying to get their beauty sleep before heading off to work.
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend activities.
My card for tonight combines a digi image and a stamped one.

Time

Hello again, more rain today! I was babysitting the two youngest grandchildren and the only thing we did was to pop up to the shops for milk and something for lunch. They both were really good and Isaac had a big sleep after lunch. Papa came home before Lisel came to pick them up so he spent some time reading and playing with them and partially fed Isaac some food. He decided he wasn't too interested because they were both sitting down on the floor. I remedied that by putting him in the high chair and he then ate the rest up no problems.
We had roast pork for tea and I invited our youngest daughter and boyfriend over to eat with us. Our eldest daughter and her fiancee popped in as well, I offered to feed them, but they bought pizza instead as George didn't want the pork. We got halfway through our meals and our youngest son came home. I wasn't expecting him home as he had gone to some car race? where he was part of the service crew for a friend who had a car entered.  I thought he was going to be quite late so hadn't saved him any tea. I decided I had eaten enough so share my roast potato and there was still meat and gravy left but no vegies. I also gave up my piece of crackle too!!! A favourite food item in this family, LOL. there is usually a bit of mucking about trying to see who can pinch a bit before it actually gets to be shared out on the dinner plates.
Hubby has to work tomorrow and starts at 6 a.m. from the work yard, so he has already gone to bed and also Laurie is doing more servicing and is getting picked up early too. So they both hit the sack a bit earlier tonight.
I'm going very shortly, just want to share this card with you.
It's one I made a little while ago but hadn't posted yet. I haven't decorated the inside as yet.
Here it is,

Recipe:
Burgundy and Blue cardstock from stash
Cream cardstock from stash - stamped with a clock stamp (no brand) and then I pricked this pattern and stitched it with a dark browny/red thread.
The clock images and the word time are images from an assorted pack of images that I picked up a couple of years ago in one of the cheap variety shops.
I matted them onto some of the blue card
I distressed the edges of the cream and blue card.

I hope you find it interesting,

Anyone for a Game?

I started today off with a trip to the dentist at 9 a.m. - he did two fillings for broken teeth and had to put pins in and also finished off the final filling for a root canal I had done a month ago. What fun and another large bill to complete the joy!!!
When I came home, our youngest daughter was waiting to go look at that dress again from yesterday. We wanted to get another look at it before I decided to buy it on-line - just to make sure it was the same one. It is now going to cost me about 40% of the original price with postage from the US and I then ordered a little sheer jacket to go over the top to cover up my arms. Hopefully we got my measurements right and the dress will fit properly without having to go get any alterations done.
By the time we had lunch, done the measurements, laughed a lot!!! and then got on the computer and ordered and paid for everything, I was late for craft. I packed some of my things, grabbed the afternoon tea and saw Rachel off. I ended up just looking through a new magazine that had come in the mail and chatting and didn't do any crafting at all.
It was good to catch up with everyone.
We had our usual tea out at the hotel and then came home, no choir practice tonight.
I'm sitting here at the computer and I can hear my hubby snoring away, the computer is humming but it is still peaceful.
Well, onto my card for today.

I stitched around the edge of a piece of card and then adhered it to the front of the card and then distressed the other layers. I sponged the white piece to create a bit of ground and also sponged the edges. I printed the image, coloured it and fussy cut it out and adhered to the white panel.

A cat and her Toy Mouse

Hello, I've had another full day! Our eldest daughter came home last night for 6 days break from the country job she has taken and she called in to say Hello. We decided to go out dress shopping as I'm not really sure now about the dress I bought to wear at her wedding. We found a lovely long dress this time but a bit pricey for me. So was going to think about it and then get back to them in the next couple of days. Katie dropped me off home and I got stuck into doing some jobs in the kitchen and then thought I would ring our other daughter and see if she wanted to catch up at another dress shop so I could have another look there as they were a bit cheaper and I knew she wanted to order her bridesmaid dress too. Well, they never have the right size to try on and so I had to try a couple that were too small and leave the zip undone, LOL. just so I could get an idea of what they would look like. One I really liked was only a size 8 (LOL, I didn't even attempt to try that one on!) so I decided not to go and order it just in case it didn't sit right, it would be a terrible waste of money.
We had a quick cup of coffee and then parted ways, Rachel only had to travel about 2 mins to go home and it took me over 30mins.
They both rang me up later to tell me that one of the other bridesmaids had seen the dress I was interested in on-line for a quarter of the price so it looks like I will be taking a chance and buying it that way.  If it is not quite right and I have to have alterations I should still come out cheaper than the one I saw today. I would have had to order that and wait for it and also would have had to have the bust taken in, the shoulder straps shortened and lots of the length cut off as I'm only 5 foot  ( a real shortie!!!) Gone are the days when you can just walk in and something will fit properly. The sizing is all whacky, I am going to have to order a dress 2 sizes larger than what I would normally wear.  Weird!!!
Anyway after all that, I did sit down tonight and make a card as well.

A card made using my stash!!!

Welcome, hope your day has been a good one. I started mine by oversleeping about 30 minutes and then getting up and seeing my son's door still closed I thought he had done the same. He had the day off so he could pick up his girlfriend who was returning from Vietnam. He hadn't told me!!! I panicked for nothing.
I got myself organised and headed off to see Shirley for our weekly get together and card making. Fran wasn't well so it was just Shirley and I today. We enjoyed our crafting and made 3 fab cards. Thanks Shirley!
I popped in to see Mum and she wasn't home so I drove around the block to a second hand shop and spent about 20 mins there poking around through the books and found a set of 6 Christian novels. No 1 was missing, so I am hoping they make sense on their own as single books. I went back to see if Mum was home and she was, so I stayed about an hour, left the books for her to read first and then headed back home to fill in about hour before heading out again to pick another friend up. We had to go and sing for our choir conductor who wants to hear all the sopranos individually so she can sound match us and move us around. We were both quite nervous about it. I ended up singing some of "The Holy City" and then we had to do scales coming downwards. My friend has Fibromyalgia and it causes problems sometimes with her breathing and muscles so she had trouble getting the high notes but was alright when I sang with her. We then had to do some singing with a piece of music we had never seen before. That was a bit off putting - especially when you are nervous and I like to hear the music first - it just seems to be a way of learning for me even though I can read the notes. I think it went okay, but we will see what happens when she has heard all us.
I stopped at the shop after dropping my friend home and got home about 5.30 p.m. Hubby didn't get home till about 6.45 p.m. - quite late for him - so we had quick tea and then I had to leave for choir and he went to a classic motorcycle meeting.  LOL, ships that pass in the night!!!!
So... home about 10.30 p.m. and got stuck into making a card and I decided not to do any stamping tonight so I made it with bits and pieces from my stash, some bits from the early years of my cardmaking, before stamping took over.

Christmas in July

It has been quite a nice day here in Adelaide. I slept in this morning and got up and put a load of washing on before I had my shower. I stayed in there a bit longer than usual because silly me forgot it  the water tends to go cold when the washer is going!!!
A quick trip to the supermarket and then back home to put it all away and head off for craft. Adrian come home just before I was about to leave so I threw some more clothes in the washing machine so he could hang them out for me. I was running late after doing all that and didn't get down to my friends until about 2.20 p.m.  Still, we all had a good time and most of us are still working away on making all the branches of our beaded Christmas tree. My shoulder is still sore, so I was worse after several hours of holding my arm in more or less the same position.
Anyway, you all know me by now and realise that it is very late and I must get on and share my card and get myself off to bed.
So, here it is.

Girl with Bouquet

Well it's the end of another week and the start of the weekend for me. Our son is going to concrete the floor of his shed tomorrow so all the boys will be down to help him, also hubby will be going over. I think they are starting at 7 a.m. It is also only going to be about 15C but I suppose they will be warm working away and they are under cover.
I had the two youngest grandchildren today. They were both really good. The little one had his lunch and I put him into bed for a sleep. He dropped right off, just like his two older sisters used to do. He slept for over 3 hours and in the end I went and woke him up. I thought he might not sleep tonight if he had too much during the day. I fed him his tea around about 5 p.m. so that when he gets home Lisel just needs to get him changed into his pyjamas.  A bit of time with Dad and then into bed.
I didn't go to craft this morning, I just want to see how I go with having both of them before I start taking them with me to all my craft commitments.
Anyway, onto my card for today.

Have Horse....Will Travel

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog. A warm welcome to new follower, Jenny.
It's been a cold day today. I was home this morning and got a few jobs done and then went off for my Thursday group craft session. Five of us today and after perusing the Avon Catalogue I managed to colour 3 images and then one of the girls tried to get Words With Friends on my phone - she's tried before and still didn't have any luck. While she was doing that, LOL, I was playing on her phone for her against another friend. I keep telling her, if I have to go onto facebook to play, I probably won't be starting any games as I very rarely log on.
We went out for tea with friends and also our youngest daughter and her boyfriend. Adrian went off to help another couple of friends move a piano with our truck and I went off to choir practice at church.
I started my card earlier in the day so only had to put it together and stamp the sentiment.

Love You Bunches

My first full day of babysitting our 1 year old grandson. I arranged to pick him up part way between here and where I go to craft as it is easier for both my DIL and I. She can then go a more direct way to get to her workplace. That makes me over 30 mins early for craft, but we just sat in the car and played peek-a-boo in the sun visor mirror.  He was really good, played with a couple of soft toys while he sat in the pusher and then dropped off to sleep for about an hour. He woke up as I put him back into the car.  We called in to buy a few groceries and then came back here for some lunch.  My hubby came home mid afternoon as he got a bit of time off and he took him for a walk with the pusher. "Papa" definitely loves his grandson!!!
I put him into our bed for another sleep and woke him up just after 5 p.m. so he would be ready to go home with his Mum about 5.30 p.m. She was a bit late so didn't leave till nearly 6 p.m.
He was no trouble at all. Friday I will have both him and one of his sisters. She has started Kindy 3 days a week and I will have her the other two.
I had good intentions of getting my card done earlier in the evening and LOL, I did have most of it done. I got wrapped up in watching some tv and sitting in the family room with the wood fire crackling away.
Well I really must get on and share my card before hubby wakes up like he did last night and finds me still beavering away on the computer at 2 a.m. - He is not impressed with my owl like existence!!!
Here is what I made tonight:

You're Out of This World

Hi again,
Yep, I know, I'm late as usual. I had choir practise tonight that went a bit late and then I had to drop a friend home and we sat in the car for a while and talked. Petrol is cheap at the moment and the fuel tank was low so I stopped at the Petrol Station as well. Everyone was in bed asleep when I finally got home so after a cup of coffee, I got started on my card.
Here it is!!!

Vintage in Purple

How has your weekend been, mine was very quiet. I went off to church this morning and was running a bit late, so was lucky there was a park right in front of the church. I got there part way through the choir rehearsal of the anthem and it was one I was comfortable with so that was okay. Just had enough time to put on my gown and head into church.
Back home and did a couple of loads of the dreaded washing and still too cold to actually hang outside with any hope of drying. I put the essential work clothes for hubby and son in the dryer and the rest on the clothes rack.
Made a casserole for tea which we ate about 7.30 p.m. after they got back from their trip to the Mallee. They've bought some stumps back for the fire, yeah!!!, we were getting quite low on firewood and stumps always burn well and put out good heat.
I had better stop chattering and get on with this post as I have another one to schedule for tomorrow.
Welcome also to a new follower, Michelle, nice to "meet" you.

Bird on a branch of blossom

Welcome. Thanks for all the well wishes for my shoulder. It is actually feeling a lot better today. Still haven't got 100% movement with no pain but can move a lot easier now.
I decided I wasn't up to driving to my friend, Judy's house for craft. It's about 40 mins away and then I would have been sitting in one spot for about 3 - 4 hours so I thought it best to stay home and rest my arm.
We have been making a beaded Christmas tree which requires repetitive movement and twisting.
So.... I had a very quiet day as hubby and son are still away. Just me and the dogs, LOL.
Well, not much to chat about so will just share my card.

By the Window

Hello again, more rain here, it's just been bucketing down but that's okay, it's late and I'm home. Hubby and son have gone away bush for the weekend.
I've pulled a muscle somewhere in my shoulder/arm and am in lots of pain. I've made a card, but it wasn't easy. I think the dogs were very confused when I would let out a groan or yelp when I moved. The guys took the truck and put my car out on the road so our daughter's fiancee could drop of our son's car and pick his up. They had swapped so Laurie could do a service on the Volkswagon Golf which was well overdue. Laurie has to put the seat back and I need it nearly all the way forward, that was painful pulling the seat forward and driving the car into the driveway even though it is automatic.
Just been waiting on them to send me an SMS or ring to let me know they got there safely, and it has just come through. Now I can hit the sack!!!
So, am quickly sharing this card and will look for some challenges tomorrow.
Here it is......

Playing Cowboy

I actually slept in this morning and was woken up by the phone. I answered but it already went to message bank. I rang the number and it was the Red Cross asking if I had seen my neighbour this morning and could I ring them back. So I got up, dressed and went across the road to knock on his door. It took several knocks and I called out with no response. I was just about to go around the back and see if he was out in his shed, and he came to the door, half dressed!!! He said he hadn't had a call but I looked on his mobile and he had missed about 4 calls and also had messages. So I just gave him the number to call back and waited until he had punched it in and was talking and then came home.
After that, I had a quiet morning and then went out to grab lunch and afternoon tea and head over to Jane's for our Thursday craft group. Again just 3 of us as it is the last week of school holidays and the other couple of people are away.
We went out as usual for tea at the hotel and this time we had a friend and his brother come as well. The friend lives in Queensland and his brother lives in New Zealand. They grew up in the Mallee area (farming area) and went to the same school as my hubby. He used to go on motorbike trips with Peter.
They came back home and went through some old photos and chatted.
Our son, Ryan and his wife popped in on their way home from having dinner out and he was complaining about his meal and how he was not very impressed with it. LOL, he ended up having a bowl of the soup I made a couple of days ago and then a bowl of icecream as well!!!
I didn't start my card till really late as I took the dogs for a walk after everyone left.
So here is what I made.

Gymnastic Prowess

It's quiet here, both hubby and son are in the land of nod and I'm just wrapping up the day with a quick read of my e-mails and writing this post. After a fine day, it has decided to rain a little bit. I just let the dogs out and they were soon scratching on the door to be let back in.
I did a bit of searching on e-bay this morning looking for an embossing folder with little sail boats on. My friend and I were sure we had seen them at the craft shop we normally go to but the young lass said they had never had them. She is not always very helpful. I remembered seeing them there and another friend had bought one!!! Anyway, I found it and the seller had more than one so managed to get one for my friend as well.
I finished up a couple of jobs here at home and then headed over to visit Mum. We popped down to the shop to look for a top for her and to have lunch as well. I saw some nice costume bling but was nearly $100 so gave it a miss. I got back home mid afternoon and caught a show called Scrap TV. It was interesting to watch and they made a wedding invitation, very rustic, I thought my daughter might like it, so might make up a mock one to show her when she comes home in a few weeks.
Well onto my card,
